Our students work together on all aspects of the shows. The magic makers behind the scenes handle lights, sound, choreography, props and costumes. Opportunities for our actors can be a lead role, part of the ensemble and/or something in between. Our older Panthers mentor and coach our elementary students as young as 3rd grade that are sometimes part of the production.
The high school and junior high actors also have the option to compete at a theater festival(s) and have been invited to compete at the State level.
Recent productions include:
Beverly Hillbillies
The Sound of Music
Freaky Friday
It's a Wonderful Life
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
A Christmas Carol
Seussical Jr.
Once Upon a Mattress
Alice in Wonderland Jr.
Highlights for the 2023-24 school year include:
The fall show, Once Upon a Mattress, set new records for our theater program, including 4 well-attended shows and Sunday's show selling out. The cast included actors as young as 3rd grade, all the way through 11th grade, with the average age being 11 years old.
Our high school theater students placed 6th at States and our junior high actors performed at the Mid-Michigan Theater Festival, where several students received superior ratings.
The Spring musical, Alice in Wonderland Jr., was well attended and ended the 3 show run with a special performance at the historic Temple Theatre.
