Dear Nouvel Catholic Central Families, Over the weekend, we were informed that two high school students tested positive for COVID-19. We are still working with the Saginaw County Health Department on contact tracing. The COVID Reporting 2021-2022 page has been updated based on the information we have at this time. Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure that we can reduce the impact of preventable transmission and quarantines, the high school is holding classes virtually today, Tuesday, September 7th. In-person learning will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, September 8th. Any impact on high school athletics will be communicated directly to the affected coach(es) and team(s). At this time, the elementary and middle school are not impacted by the recent cases and will continue with normal academic and extracurricular schedules. Quarantine Length/Conditions: The Saginaw County Health Department (SCHD) issued updated guidance for quarantines on August 12, 2021. This full document can be foundhere. Portions of that document are included below as a courtesy. Exposure outside of the home:
Vaccinated – do not need to quarantine but should monitor for symptoms [if fully vaccinated and not displaying any symptoms]
Unvaccinated – quarantine for 14 days. This means staying home and away from others through Day 14. There are two acceptable alternatives if 14 days poses a work or school hardship:
10 days, while continuing to wear a mask indoors for the full 14 days and monitoring for symptoms or
7 days with a negative PCR test taken 3-5 days after exposure, while continuing to wear a mask indoors for the full 14 days and monitoring for symptoms
Appropriate teachers and staff will be informed via email if a student in returning to school under option A or B. Students will be expected to wear a mask as described above. If a student does not meet that expectation, please contact your building leader or the main office. Building leaders will address the matter with the student.
Impact of quarantine options / masking requirements on athletic participation:
Pending further conversation with the SCHD
If your child has been vaccinated:
The family of any student will still be notified if the student is considered a close contact.
Please consider providing the school with appropriate vaccination documentation in advance. This will help expedite the contact tracing process.
If not already on file, vaccinated students not required to quarantine will be expected to provide appropriate documentation to return to school.
Vaccination status will be recorded in Skyward, similar to other important medical information.
A reminder, if your child has a presumed or confirmed case of COVID-19, please contact the school via phone. Please continue to call the numbers below until you speak to a school representative. This will help to ensure that we can respond promptly.
