We are proud to share that in Nouvel's second year of participating in the A.H. Nickless Innovation Award competition, all six of the NCCHS teams were invited to move forward to Phase Two and each team will receive a $1,000 grant to help conduct research and develop a viable solution ahead of the final competition in April. Nouvel is one of eight schools represented in this regional competition and proudly has 6 of the 23 teams that have been asked to move forward to Phase Two.
Led by Ms. Wagner, the students will continue to work together in teams to "think innovatively and develop solutions to problems affecting the world." For Phase One, teams were responsible for identifying a problem and submitting a two-page description of its proposed project. Pictured are 13 of the 17 students that will be representing Nouvel in the 2023-2024 competition: (front row)
Riley Mattheis, Sydney Leslie, Veronica Gross, Sarah Moore, Elizabeth Garner, Ta'najah Farris and Viviana Fabiano. (back row) Leader Ms. Wagner, Jessica Kricher, Oliver Bauer, Julia Collison, Breanne Burr, Giorgio Fabiano and Marco Olascuaga. Missing from the picture are: Isabella Dobis, Francis Gorzela, Rachel Witten and
Julian Murad.
These students have big shoes to fill as last year the competition was won by now NCC alumni, Colin Kaul and Andrew Wagner. Their first-place victory earned Nouvel a year with the traveling trophy (on display at our front entrance) and a $20,000 STEM education grant. Additionally, Colin and Andrew both received a $5,000 scholarship to use at the college of their choice.
Congratulations and good luck to our STEM leaders!
