We are back with our third of four support teacher spotlights, in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week! Congratulations to another one of our Nouvel Teachers of the Week, Mrs. Teresa Colucci. Mrs. Colucci is in her 20th year of teaching at Nouvel where she serves as a math support teacher at NCCE/MS, as well as a NCCHS math instructor and the NCCHS math department chair.
Mrs. Colucci's favorite saying is, "I want all the people to have the opportunity to learn without limit." Her favorite book, at the moment is "Fr. Kanally's Niece," because her mother wrote it and it was recently self-published. Although she doesn't have a favorite Saint, she enjoys reading books about the lives of the saints.
When asked about her proudest teaching moment, Mrs. Colucci shared, "one year I had the chance to work with a student at NCCE/MS who was way, way behind in math and had almost no confidence in his ability to do the work. I had that student in my class at the high school the next year and at one point he explained how to solve a problem to the class, after another student was struggling to solve it. When finished, I started to move on and he said, "Was that right?" When I told him that he was correct in his explanation, he absolutely beamed."
Mrs. Colucci is inspired by people who are loving and patient, as they inspire her to be a better person.
Mrs. Colucci and her family are members at St. John Vianney Church.
