Whew! We made it through our first week relatively unscathed! Thanks to each and every one of you for making our first attempt at in-person education so successful! From the stupendous staff participating in countless hours of training and working through all of the details in order to hit the ground running last Monday (earliest in-person start among area schools), to our parents who prepared our students mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to be ready to come back after five and a half months of no in-person school, to our students who made our week joyful and renewed our sense of purpose. We feel so blessed to be interacting again with these amazing young students!
I’m especially proud of our students who have adapted so seamlessly to so many new procedures: cohort groups staying together, masks being worn in so many areas, locker, bathroom, and sanitizing schedules, passing only on the right in the hallways, lunch in the classrooms, modifications to the playground and related arts classes, and so many other things as we evolve our school programming in this “new normal” (can we agree there is very little that is “normal” about some of it?!). Speaking of that, I do look forward to the day when we have beat this virus and we can return, God Willing, to the “old normal” which we all certainly appreciate now in an even greater way than ever before.
Thanks to all members of our school family for making our first week an unmitigated success. Know, however, that I / we are always open to your suggestions and ideas. We may not be able to implement each one in their entirety but we certainly will entertain the ideas as we strive to continually improve in making things safer, kinder, and more academically and socially enriching for our children moving forward.
I’m an avid writer and photographer and tried to capture below our wonderful student’s helping us to start off this school year so successfully. They are featured below:
