Nouvel Catholic Central’s athletic program provides a comprehensive approach that encourages student-athletes of all ages to grow in education, faith, competition and teamwork. Foundational skills are introduced at the elementary and competitive offerings culminate in high school with 23 varsity sports available. Between those levels, lands our junior high athletics, which aim to cultivate skill development and positive athletic experiences.
Nouvel 8th grade student-athlete, Jack N., shared,”athletic opportunities are really important to us because they’re fun, allow us to be active and we meet new people. Both boys and girls have opportunities to participate in different sports each season and enjoy competing against other schools. With our size of school, we don’t have any junior high cuts and everyone is encouraged to give each sport a try. Typically it’s our parents coaching so we really get to know our friends' parents. Those small things make a big difference and you feel like everyone cares about you and wants you to be part of that experience.”
Additionally, 8th grade student-athlete, Manning S., shared how positive the 7th and 8th grade transition to the high school campus has been. “What I like most is how much we get to know the older students. Between athletic camps in the summer and workouts in the Performance Training Center, we get to meet and learn from the high schoolers. A smaller campus makes it easy to get to know everyone, learn from them and become friends. The high schoolers have a great work ethic and are talented, multi-sport athletes. My friends and I feel comfortable asking for help if we need extra support.”
