As you are aware, Governor Whitmer has recently scaled back her restrictions on outdoor gatherings, increasing the limit from 10 to 100 participants, as referenced in
Executive Order 2020-110 (COVID-19) (June 1, 2020). However, it's important to note that we have put in place safety guidelines that must be followed when coaches and students are present on-site for athletic training. Below are the guidelines that coaches and student-athletes must adhere to when training at Nouvel Catholic Central High School:
A coach will be present at the entrance of the Nouvel football field, welcoming student-athletes, at which point, the coach will record the temperature of each participant.
Coaches and student-athletes MUST have their temperature taken at home before traveling to the workout site at Nouvel. That information is to be recorded prior to the workout.
All coaches and student-athletes are to remain home if they are feeling ill in any way.
Coughs and sneezes are to be muffled on the inside of one's elbow.
No one is allowed inside the main high school building, for any reason.
Equipment is not allowed to be used. This includes balls, resistance bands, etc.
Social distancing of at least six feet is to be maintained at all times.
No handshakes, hugs, fist-bumps, or physical contact of any kind is allowed.
No spitting, sunflower seeds or gum chewing is allowed.
There will be no open restroom available, so please make sure your child uses the restroom prior to attending training.
Coaches/Student-athletes are responsible for bringing their own water bottle to training.
Student-athletes must bring at least 12 ounces of water/Gatorade/Powerade to training or else they will not be allowed to participate.
Hydration stations will not be provided.
Face masks are encouraged, but optional. No one should be discouraged from wearing a mask.
Workouts are open to Nouvel Catholic Central High School students only.
Coaches and student-athletes must disembark from the site immediately upon completion of the workout. Socializing in the parking lot is not allowed.
If for any reason the social distancing policies are not implemented, the event will end immediately. Social distancing must be maintained at all times.
All current Nouvel High School students are welcome to train at the scheduled times. This is an opportunity for our students to stay active and attain some sense of normalcy. All coaches in attendance will provide a workout opportunity to any student, regardless of sport.
Summer workouts are currently scheduled from 7:30-8:30 am and 6:30-7:30 pm, Monday-Thursday, at the NCCHS Boyd Field. Training will consist of general, individual calisthenics (running, push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, stretching, etc.) Attendance is voluntary and no sport preference or sport punishment will come to any student-athlete who may or may not choose to participate in summer training.
This executive order is considered Step 2. Step 5 is an environment that resembles previous summer workouts, and includes indoor access. We will be updating the Nouvel community once new information becomes available.
