Nouvel Catholic Central High School students participated in the Saginaw County Bar Association High School Mock Trial Competition last Thursday, March 21
st. NCCHS prevailed over Birch Run, winning the verdict and best performance. This is the second year in a row that NCCHS has won in both categories.
“It’s an exciting day for the students, to be at the county court house, experience a day in the life of our local legal advocates. They get to enter the court room and take on another persona. It’s fun for them,” said advisor Peter Bartels. “To be able to walk away with another win makes it that much more enjoyable. They worked really hard,” said Bartels.
The NCCHS students portrayed lawyers, witnesses and jury during the mock trial. Students presented their case and evaluated the witness testimonies and evidence to come to a verdict.
This year’s participants were (lawyers) Cecilia Gross, Joseph Messana, (witnesses) William Buchalski, Rocco Lopez-Gamboa, Brianna Greene, Alexandra Schultz, (jurors) Noah Brasseur, Brady Collins, Sophia Garcia, Kathryn Messana, Anne Moskal and Brenna Radke.
