Nouvel Catholic Central provides an outstanding educational experience for students of all faiths, rooted in the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Nouvel proudly serves the area as a regional Catholic high school for students from many Mid-Michigan communities: Frankenmuth, Birch Run, Hemlock, Merrill, Midland, Reese, Chesaning and Linwood among others.

Mathmatics - 4.0 credits
Science - 3.0 credits
Social Studies - 3.5 credits
Foreign Language - 2.0 credits
Fine Arts - 1.0 credits
Physical Education - 1.0 credits
Health - 0.5 credits
Speech - 0.5 credits
Electives - 4.5 credits

Academic Honors

Students who have achieved academic success in various curriculum areas are recognized during an annual Honor’s Assembly.

Bishop Honors - 4.0+
Principal Honors - 3.7 - 3.99
Faculty Honors - 3.3 - 3.69

Cumulative grade point averages are calculated at the end of each semester. Senior grades for recognition are calculated based on the 7th semester grades.

Academic Placement and Honor Courses

Students can choose from eight Advanced Placement courses, 21 honors courses,and an arts program, in addition to core and elective courses. Last year, 58 Nouvel students scored a three or higher on the Advanced Placement tests, earning advance college credit. Additionally, junior and senior students have the opportunity to pursue International Baccalaureate courses, vocational programs and dual college enrollment off-campus as well as Virtual University.

Numerous colleges and universities visit annually to recruit NCC students. The Counseling Department assists students with the college selection and application process.

Colleges and Universities

Traditionally, 99 percent of graduates enroll directly into college or university upon graduation. The Class of 2016 was awarded over $2.4 million in college scholarships.

ACT Test Preparation

All junior students participate in a six week college admissions test preparation program. Students learn general test taking skills, subject matter review and pacing.
